The Malta Continence Care Association (MCCA) is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation dedicated to improve the quality of life of people with incontinence. The association was founded after a group of health care professionals already committed in the Continence Care Interdisciplinary Team (CCIT) decided to take things further and widen their expertise and knowledge by founding the Malta Continence Care Association in 2007.
The MCCA is committed to create awareness and education among healthcare professionals and the general public about the implications of incontinence and how this can be prevented. The executive committee members’ background is from various spheres of health care, aiming to provide a holistic approach to continence care.
Incontinence can be defined as the loss of bladder or bowel control that may result in involuntary leakage of urine or faeces. Incontinence does not just concern older people or people with disability but is a common condition that affects people from all walks of life, regardless of their age or cultural background.
The most important thing to know is that, most of the time, incontinence can be preventable, treated, managed and cured. In our website we aim to provide general information about managing incontinence to the health care professionals and the general public.
We hope you find this website useful and informative.
